My home made hummus

Ingredients

I haven't measured any of the ingredients - I just throw them in - this is a rough estimate - use common sense!

460g drained weight of pre-cooked chick peas*
3-5 table spoons tahini (sesame seed paste)
1-3 tea spoons ground cumin
1-3 tea spoons ground coriander seeds
3-6 cloves of garlic
2-4 table spoons lemon juice
½-1 dl basic vegetable oil, typically canola
½-1 dl olive oil
salt - I rarely add any because the chick peas already contain it

How to

Mix canola oil with cumin, coriander and chopped garlic cloves, cook it for around 1-2 minutes in the microewave oven - use a lid! Some people will add these ingredients raw. Although I like garlic in any form, I prefer cooked garlic over raw. I believe that the cumin and coriander flavours become stronger when cooked in oil.

Thow ingredients in food processor and blend it for several minutes. Done!

* One Eldorado pack (Norway) contains 380g with water and 230g drained weight and contains 0.9% salt - no need to add any to the hummus! Norwegian food products are extremely salty!
